Proof That Parts Stores Don’t Diagnose Your Vehicle! (Dodge Caravan Misfire)
Переглядів 19 тис.28 днів тому
This video is not intended to call out parts stores. The point is for people to realize that a simple scan of the vehicle with a print out of the most common fixes is not a proper diagnosis. It needs to be looked at by a professional so you don’t waste money on parts. Some parts stores do this to sell parts. Others properly educate their customer to go get it looked at by a shop. This misfiring...

Had a Mazda with a Ford V-6 and the water pump is in the crank case - yeah...stupid. New water pump came from Ford, said Ford on it, and said use brand A type coolant only or warranty is void, Mazda owner's manual said use brand B type fluid or warranty is void. How do you deal with this stuff? NOBODY HAD AN ANSWER THAT THEY WOULD STAND BEHIND!

  • @PrinceAlberts

You didn’t disconnect pins B and C, you disconnected the jumpers for B and C. The problem is on the phase A wire and pin, so disconnecting the phase B and C jumpers didn’t induce a fault. In a three phase motor all three phases are tied together at the neutral return. If any one phase has low voltage, all phases are affected. Depending on how they set it up, phase A might be the only phase that’s monitored. I doubt that, though. If only phase A were monitored, they probably would have called it a general power fault to avoid confusing their own technicians.

This is why I'm not afraid to charge 150$ an axle when I do a brake job. I always did it this way and never had a problem. Except the bleeder opening, because when you work on a car that has seen 10 Canadian winters and never had a brake flush, chances are that this bleeder is gonna snap right off. Especially American garbage pick up trucks.

What are all you smart guys gonna do when the starter is under the intake? Are you gonna check there first and commit to pulling an intake on a whim? I've been there when i was a parts changer new to the field. Had 4 hours into a vehicle somebody else diagnosed as a starter, and when i turned the key, no crank still. Checked battery voltage with a jumper pack on battery posts in case it was weak and it wasn't. Moved negative clamp on the jumper pack from battery ground to block and car started. The actual fix was the ground strap that was open next to the exhaust. This guy knows his stuff and the channel is great for learning how to do it right the first time. I've learned a lot from them in the past year as I've been learning diag and scoping. Keep up the great videos Royalty Auto!!

I only use garages that are recommended by my friends, based on what their experience has been. That leaves me with actual feedback from people I trust and do road trips with, without the need to ''trust'' a review on google. So far I only visit 2 garages, based on their availability for the type of repair I need. Being honest probably pays less, but it does pay with customer retention for the future.

Funny thing this video being recommended, over here in the UK we use silicon grease for the slider pins and Copper grease for the rest besides this i was taught by a old school mechanic (civil city and guilds engineer) (my father in law) to do the same a long time ago i didn't get the opportunity to go to college and fell in love with everything about cars and in t he UK unless your a certain age you cant get funding to retrain anyways, my father in law taught me almost everything i know about cars and the first thing he taught me was to service a car (easiest job he called it lol) and this way of doing the breaks he did (although with different grease) is the exact same he had always done and taught me to do and i am the same i have never had a issue with doing it this way with all the controversy online its sometimes good to see others doing the exact same technique.

Just found this channel, I worked at Sears Auto and an engine shop 20 years ago; I've been working as an aircraft mechanic for the last 20 years now and went to a diesel community college working on tractors, school buses ect. Not working in auto, its impossible for me to know everything. This channel reminds me of the speed channel I use to watch in the 90's. If I could clone myself and work two jobs... this is the shop I would want to work for.... liked the video of the parasitic draw with the infra-red imagery tool, we use this for pneumatic leaks on aircraft. Every technician field is different in someway and I love learning more and more....20 years ago I had a Ford Taurus comeback with front pulsation.... felt it in the steering wheel bad on hard braking no worn steering components and I rarely had comebacks.... three times for me this car! back then we cut rotors and I used the on the car brake lathe to minimize run-out in the hub on the last time rather than the ammaco brake lathe . It was a young girl with a breathalyzer in the car from drinking; I used ceramic pads and the rotors were blue from heat well above machine to spec....Were ceramic pads not a good combo for the Taurus, this girl was hard on the car? It was our raybestos brand and if we didn't have it.. I only used Carquest or napa pads, and I always used sil-glide, brake lube, and zep disk brake quiet and all rust was removed with cookies and wire wheels from the hub. No caliper hangup, balooning brake hose pads even wear; any opinions? I was 20 back then and ended up sending her to the dealer thinking it was a combination valve. Back then I had all my state certification and did sales too when the desk people were lazy...so I sold the job and did the repair, customer service is #1 and they pay your check. They wouldn't answer the phones so I had too.... now look at Sears! After watching your video I now think it may have had a worn wheel bearing/ hub. But I shook down all my vehicles down bc I did all maintenance services and alignments. In Detroit Michigan, my High School was aircraft mechanics and we flew planes as well. I failed my Ase test many times until I passed. Learning so much from your channel keep the content coming... this is better than 📺

In terms of testing the relay without a relay tester... find a relay that's the same in the relay box. I like the horn. Test the horn first, to prove it works. Then put the starter relay in the horn relay's spot. If the horn honks.. your starter relay is good!

well to remove it thats not the worst thing in the world. IF youre gonna do an oil change and the filter is stuck yits perfectly reasonable to jam a screwdriver in there and turn it that way. The thing about an oil filter is it's metal on metal with a rubber gasket. the hot-cold-hot-cold cycle can interfere with what its torqued at... usually it's someones fault why these things are torqued down to the tits though
